GENERAL
The Swan 56 has been an extremely successful model for Nautor, with 46 hulls launched to date. Many of the earlier Swan 56s were geared toward racing, with deep keels, carbon decks, fractional rigs, and container loads of sails. However, as people began to realize the wonderful offshore capabilities of this boat, a new breed of fast, world cruiser was developed. Alianza is the ultimate of the blue water 56s, incorporating every comfort while remaining true to the renowned performance abilities of the Swan 56.
The build brief for Alianza was to make a boat that could be easily handled by a couple in the utmost style and elegance. Design changes started with the deck and rig. All winches in the cockpit were rearranged. A pair of electric mainsheet winches was placed aft near the helmsman, the mainsheet leading under-deck ( an idea now standard on the new Swan 66). The electric primary winches were switched with the secondary winches so as to be more accessible to the helmsman. The main halyard is led aft under-deck to an electric secondary winch. With the carbon Marten furling boom and hydraulic Reckmann jib furler, the sails can be raised, lowered, reefed, and tacked without leaving the cockpit, in fact without breaking a sweat.
The carbon rig on Alianza is custom designed by Offshore Spars to be stiffer than normal so as to eliminate the need for runners in most conditions. The hydraulically controlled furling boom is a work of art, custom built for Alianza by Marten Marine in New Zealand. Boom height measurement, critical to furling boom management, is displayed on a digital readout.
Below decks Alianza has factory installed air conditioning, heating, Vacuflush heads, Spectra water maker, and Spendide washer/dryer. The entertainment system is totally custom, with major amperage going to individually controlled speakers. Alianza is probably the only Swan 56 built with a cockpit box dedicated to one of the yacht’s two sub-woofers. The flat screen TV is tied into the sound system via the DVD player or the worldwide satellite receiver.
Alianza is in perfect condition. Every system on the boat is in excellent working order. Every light, switch, relay, meter, gauge, and pump is working properly. The extra thick decks show virtually no wear, nor are there any scratches on the hull, cockpit or cabin. She has been cared for to the highest possible standards and is truly in turnkey condition. She comes complete with dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. Add some food (her fuel tanks are kept full), and Alianza is ready to go to sea tomorrow.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Alianza has the standard two stateroom layout. The main salon is beautifully outfitted in soft, off-white leather which accents the perfectly matched-grain teak. There is a full set of fitted covers for every seat, chair, and couch on the boat.

There is a Sharp 20” LCD TV on the port side of the salon. The TV can take input from the Trac Vision G4 gimbaled satellite dish, the powered Pacific Antenna for local reception, the Eclipse DVD player, or the gaming inputs. Behind the TV is mounted a bank of amplifiers providing home theater quality sound and enough power to entertain the whole marina via the custom cockpit speakers. The main salon, cockpit, and both staterooms have volume controls for their respective areas.
The main salon has temperature controls for both air conditioning and heating. The teak and holly floorboards can be protected by a complete set of clear plastic floor mats for when the yacht goes to the boatyard.

Aft Stateroom
The aft stateroom on Alianza feels larger than normal due to a shortening of the cockpit. This provides better headroom and an easier access to the aft cockpit via the removable ladder. This stateroom has a centerline queen berth, controls for air conditioning and heat, controls for the stereo, and an intercom speaker linked to the cockpit.

Forward Stateroom
The forward stateroom is full width and features all of the controls of the aft stateroom. In addition to the ensuite head, there is a walk-in shower. A lot of custom cabinetry make this a very comfortable stateroom with an abundance of storage and locker space.

Galley
Alianza has an extremely well equipped galley, complete with silverware, dishes, and cooking utensils. Refrigeration has both 110 volt AC system for shore power and generator plus an engine driven system.

RIG
The rig on Alianza is outstanding. Offshore Spars designed a carbon rig that has added strength and stiffness. Marten Marine of New Zealand designed and built the carbon roller furling boom. Hydraulically controlled by a system usually found in only much larger yachts, the mainsail can be hoisted, reefed, and furled from either the helm or cockpit. Many of the halyards and control lines were led under deck for a very clean and uncluttered look. Although the deck layout is arranged for short handed sailing, Alianza is equally at home on the race course and is set up to fly spinnakers, Code Zeros, and Gennekers.
